No, If your thinking of trading around peoples homes there is no legislation to say that you need to be qualified to be a domestic tiler, all you need is the competence to do the job and that is what we will teach you, we give you quality certificates in wall and floor tiling anyway but they are not required. If you wish to go on a building site at a later date then you would require a CSCS card and an NVQ. We have lots of our students who go on from here to become successful tilers running their own business and becoming their own boss.
Decent Tilers charge about £25 to £40 per metre for installation. Dependant on the job, quality and speed.
You will need to bring some work boots or equivalent, some hard wearing trousers and a suitable top like a jumper or hoodie. All the PPE you will need including, masks, glasses and gloves will be provided.
Yes, most people that attend our course travel from all over the UK so you will be not alone when staying over, We have lots of places nearby only minutes drive away from the training centre. Some of these we have listed on our accommodation page. Liverpool City centre is only 6 miles drive away. Here there are hundred of hotels and restaurants to choose from and for those who fancy it maybe a bit of late night shopping.
The training centre is within a Business park. The park has a 24hr manned barrier security system with CCTV. The Tiling Academy has its own allocated parking area. Once inside the Business park and you can park right outside the training unit where you car will be safe and sound. Parking is totally free 24hrs.
No, we are a dedicated tiling training centre, we have a fantastic tiling set up where you will complete your tiling training courses with us. There will be one tiling course running at a time, 8 to 10 students per class with me as your tutor.
You dont NEED one right now but possibly in the future tilers maybe required to produce a NVQ level 2 qualification with a Blue CSCS card to be accepted onto site as a tiler. We can help you get your. Once Tiling our assessor will come out and visit you over a period of several weeks in the workplace and assess your tiling skills after you have left the training centre. The NVQ qualification cannot be assessed in a training centre or any simulated environment. You cannot just get an NVQ level 2 overnight or fast track no matter what other companies claim. An NVQ Level 2 will give you access to a Blue (Skilled Worker) CSCS card. You need a valid CSCS card to gain access or if you are looking to work on a building site. It involves a short test and will show you fully understand the current rules and regulations and the importance of health and safely in the workplace. If you are domestic tiling trading then, at present, there is no need for this qualification.
Yes we have dedicated mens and ladies toilets with lockable doors and enough space for you to get changed before class if need be. Some may choose to come to class in their work gear but we have facilities were you can get changed in private without having to worry. Each person will be assigned a locker where you can keep your valuables locked away nice and safe.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks with you. However, we do have our own kitchen and seated breakout area with complimentary hot water drinks, tea, coffee and bottled water. There is a sink area with a fridge and microwave and plates and cutlery you can use. There is also an onsite cafe next door which serves food and drinks throughout the day. The menu changes all the time but they do hot and cold food to eat in or takeaway. There is also a dedicated area right outside the workshop for those who smoke or vape.
